Trade Standards
- Mulch Depth: Standard application is 75mm to 100mm. Less than 50mm will not suppress weeds or retain moisture effectively. More than 100mm can cause collar rot around stems and prevent water reaching the soil.
- Topsoil / Garden Mix: If building a new raised bed, calculate the total volume and add 15% for settling. Fresh soil mixes settle significantly after the first heavy watering.
- Bags vs Bulk: A standard bag of mulch from a hardware store is 50 Litres. There are 1000 Litres in 1m³. You need 20 bags to make 1m³. If you need more than 2m³, always buy bulk delivery.
