Spacing Guidelines

  • Groundcovers: Typically 3 to 5 plants per m² (spacing of 0.45m - 0.55m).
  • Small Shrubs (up to 1m): 1 to 2 plants per m² (spacing of 0.7m - 1.0m).
  • Hedging (Lilly Pilly / Viburnum): Commonly planted at 0.75m to 1m intervals in a straight line (linear metre calculation, not m²).
  • Triangular Pattern: Planting in an offset zig-zag creates a denser canopy faster, requiring roughly 15% more plants than a square grid.
