Assumptions & Trade Standards

  • Wastage: 5% is standard for square areas. Increase to 10% if the area is curved or requires many diagonal cuts.
  • Bedding Sand: Standard depth is 30mm for pedestrian traffic. Washed river sand is typical.
  • Roadbase (Crushed Rock): 100mm is standard for residential foot traffic. 150mm+ for vehicle traffic (driveways). Must be compacted with a plate compactor in layers.
